I thought that there would be more updates on the Fenton Hobnail in this book and more pictures is why I bought this book.. I also purchased The Big Book of Fenton-- 1940-1970 which I feel is much better since the pictures are more clearer and the detail in the description. I have two great books but would recommended the second book more because of the detailed pictures...

Item came water damaged across the top and down a few inches. The packaging was fine. The water damage apparently happened before shipping.

Author tried to put too much information in too small of a book, therefore too much was just glossed over or fell through the cracks. The Fenton Compendiums by the same author are much better. If I couldn't get the Compendiums then this would be nice.

My children love reading about space and all its mysteries. This book is well laid out with plenty fun pictures and facts for them to go over and think about.

Middle school students enjoy reading the book on their own, great images and attention-getting headlines, some info about black holes may be out of date but overall a good resource to add to a classroom or to buy for kids at home.

I have always enjoyed the Grumpy Gardner in Southern Living magazines. The book content is fine but.....the print is way too small for me and also the color of the text is light. I really have a hard time reading the pages. Y'all need to realize that when you format books!!

Wasn't what I had hoped it would be. It did not cover the plants as thoroughly as was expected. Also, the print is not bold enough nor large enough in my opinion . . . which makes it a strain to read . . . and I do not need readers or subscription glasses. He was as humorous as always. That part was enjoyable and I did pick up a few pointers.

I always enjoy reading the Grumpy Gardener column in Southern Living. I've learned a lot from his expertise over the years. In the midst of his bad attitude, Steve knows his gardening stuff. This book was quite enjoyable. I did recognize some old columns, so I realize this book is mostly recycled columns. But still, very enjoyable reading. This book would make a great gift for the gardener or wanna be gardener in your life. Some of his pet peeves made me laugh out loud. I have the yellow bushes he hates. And yes, I have a neighbor who alternated them with the pink ones he also hates. I forget their names. He made me want to look up some plants to learn more about them. So yes, I learned a lot.

I have been following "Grumpy" for many years in Southern Living. I am also an avid gardener. His practical, down to earth comments always make me smile. As an insecure beginning gardener, Grumpy taught me not to be sentimental about mistakes. His acerbic style makes me laugh at myself and not take gardening so seriously. Make a mistake,correct mistake, move on and learn from mistake and don't whine or ask stupid questions. Even if you are not a serious gardener, this book is worth a read, especially if you like tongue-in-cheek commentary and acerbic wit. I loved it and hope he does a follow-up.

I have always enjoyed reading Mr. Bender's columns in one of my monthly magazines. I love his sense of humor, and he really knows how to explain the care of garden plants. I am really enjoying his book--so easy to read and find out about specific plants as I need that information. This one is worth buying and keeping. 5 Stars!
