Isabella Price, MA, is an international speaker, author, and higher education professional at JFK University where she teaches �World Spirituality� courses. Isabella is the author of the leading-edge book series �One Truth, Many Paths� on the world�s wisdom traditions, which includes her book I Am With Her on the Sacred Feminine. For over 25 years, she has been successfully teaching classes and workshops at JFK University, the California College of the Arts, and numerous other educational institutions and religious venues. She has traveled extensively and participated in numerous rituals from diverse wisdom traditions. She holds an MA in the humanities (global history and comparative religion) from the University of Zurich, Switzerland. This is not about applying "goddess power" into your everyday life, it's simply a historical biography of the different goddesses that were worshipped by different cults and religions around the world since ancient times. As a history buff, I liked the book, but I had purchased it for ways to incorporate goddess power into my life like I have done with Buddhism - in that respect, it was a major disappointment.

Author Bio (3900 characters maximum): Larry McCabe's credentials include an education degree from the University of Arizona, more than thirty years of music teaching experience, over eighty published music books, columns for Living Blues Magazine and Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine, and authorship of the Roy Clark Fiddle Magic Method and the Roy Clark Bluegrass Banjo Bible. He plays electric and acoustic blues guitar, clawhammer and three-finger banjo, fiddle, and other string instruments. During his career, he has taught blues guitar lessons, banjo lessons, fiddle lessons, song writing, music theory, music history, and other subjects. Larry has played in numerous bands including blues, classic country, rockabilly, traditional Irish, and Cajun, and he served on the prestigious W.C. Handy Blues Awards nominating committee for many years. With his wife, Becky, Larry is the owner and publisher of the popular roots music instruction book company Red Dog Music Books. I ordered this book/CD, "101 Razor-Sharp Blues Guitar Rhythm Patterns..." wanting to get a slew of great Blues rhythms patterns. Upon receving it, I excitedly removed the enclosed CD and played it in my car - all the way through -and was thoroughly disappointed because the patterns were not very complex, unique, or imaginative. Looking at the reviews others gave, I could not help but wonder if there was something I was missing. I did not share a lot of their opinions.The Blues patterns were, in my opinion, a little too basic and unimaginative. I really felt I could have come up with my own patterns and topped what was in this book. I have other Blues instructional books and they have very lively patterns that inspire me, but I just could not get into this book.But after sitting in a few bars and listening to some great guitarists, I now understand that the aim of this book is to give you simple patterns. Blues rhythm patterns are basically simple, and it is up to the guitarist to add fills, arpeggiation, slides, syncopation, and other devices to make it interesting. So if you are looking for some consistent and straightforward, basic Blues rhythm patterns, this is your book/CD.Note: I gave this book a poor review at first, which I don't like to do, but I have adjusted my view to understand the book was not poor, it was just not what I was personally looking for or as advanced as I had hoped.

Book is good.....basic but like someone else said blues are basic. My problem was with the cd I put it in my car to listen and by track 25 or so started getting bad then fizzled out. CD looked old, paper label on cd - looked home produced.I tried to burn it into computer, but still could not be read. I went on line to find author-publisher but the email from his website does not respond ([...]%20dog%20music%20books.htm) Thought maybe they could email me the audio files. Had high hopes but received a blank/unformatted CD, similar to another reviewer's experience. Found the publisher's website/email and made contact, hoping they might volunteer to send a CD or post the audio files so I could download them. The response was that I should return to Amazon, which I am doing, in hopes that this is not a widespread quality control issue with this item. Will update review once replacement arrives.

Ordered this book twice. Both copies did not have working CD's. The actual text was not bad. Would not order a third time. Order the Complete Rhythm Guitar Guide for Blues Bandsby Larry McCabe.

The book arrived with a blank music CD. I consider the accompanying music CD crucial for learning the Rhythm patterns. I sent it back and requested a new book and CD but unfortunately the replacement CD was also blank. I sent it back and have given up.

This book makes the third blues book of Larry's I have used, and it is another winner. In fact this book is likely the most useful to me on one of my current gigs - playing rhythm behind a "local legend" player.As with Larry's other books, the examples are written in standard notation and tablature. A well recorded CD of all examples is also included, with the bass guitar on the left and the six string guitar on the right so one can isolate either. All the examples are written in C, and there are a variety of tempos and styles.While playing through the examples I would often find myself pausing to expand on the examples, adding strings or additional notes of my own. Many of these examples are great springboards for creating your own patterns. Anyone who has listened to blues guitar music, particularly Chicago style, has heard many of these patterns in practice already. This book would be a great start for the beginner wanting to learn blues, or the intermediate player who would like to delve deeper into the blues genre.And the learning does not stop with the example rhythm patterns. The appendices are also a wealth of knowledge. There is a great section on chord patterns and fragments for both minor and dominant chords. Standard 12-bar and 8-bar progressions are also written out in every major and minor key. There are also open charts provided so students can write their own patterns over various chord changes. And like Larry's other books, a great suggested listening section is also included.On a final note, I will echo the thoughts of Larry in his introduction. Far too often blues players (and guitar players in general) focus on lead playing and have rhythm playing skills that are, well, somewhat lacking. This book is a great way for the beginner or intermediate blues player to beef up those very important rhythm skills.

I'm an intermediate guitar player and prior to ordering this book I was stuck in a rut playing the basic I/IV/V 12 bar blues over and over using chords like G,C and D and I didn't really know how mix it up or make my chord progressions more interesting. This book solved all those problems immediately. By applying these patterns into my progressions they make me sound like I am a far more advanced guitar player than I really am. The patterns in this book are amazingly simple but pack the power of a sledge hammer. Out of the 101 patterns in this book there were only 4 or 5 that didn't do much for me but the rest are pure Gold! The CD is also a great tool in making sure my timeing is correct. The Appendix in the back of the book is a great addition and is loaded with information and arranging tips. An excellent choice for anyone wanting to expand his or her rhythm playing. It took me a long time to get around to reading this book. I thought it was an attempt to trash the church and was hesitant to waste my time/money, but finally friends convinced me that I should give it a look. So here's fair warning. This book wrecked my life. I state that as the highest praise. If you are a person who wants the truth, whatever it may cost you and however many cherished doctrines you may need to examine, you should read this book.For too many years, the established church (which is often a good and worthy institution) has put the most important facet of church life on the back burner. Jesus. Plus nothing. Dear family, Jesus is all that matters and we have diluted His revelation with so many things. He is revealed in His assembly, yet most of the assembly is sitting on their hands receiving pablum from an overworked preacher. It's time to let Jesus step back up to the podium and hear from Him via one another. Get this book. It will wreck your life, too. In a good way. ;)

As the authors have stated elsewhere, this book is a deconstruction of modern church practice and it is up to the reader to figure out where to go from there.This book hit me like a fist in the gut. Everything I knew about my faith practice was challenged and it was an uncomfortable few months after finishing the last chapter. That being said, I recommend that everyone read this book. Once you realize how much of church practice has superseded Scripture, you will begin the search for a more focused fellowship. This book should be read with others to gain more insight about simple fellowships/house church ideals that are present in the book.I hope you have the courage to be tested in your preferences.

I grew up in a protestant environment. Frank Viola nails the Sunday routine that's surprisingly alike in all modern churches. What we consider "worship service" is based, not on the first century example but on practices from early pagan cultures. Sort of shocking to me, but it did make me smile and shake my head many times (and even grin a couple of times) when I recognized a whole string of sacred cows that have no basis in scripture (including order of worship, sermon, the little fence that divides the leader from the congregants, and many more). Made me realize the truth of what his research shows. No matter how many pretty new dresses you put on a cow or what you call it, it still remains a cow. I really appreciated the descriptions of what actually constituted Christian worship in the first century. I've read and studied the Bible since I was a child, yet after reading Pagan Christianity, I'm seeing all these things with new eyes. Incredible. If we'd follow the New Testament examples of what actually went on when first century Christians got together, we certainly wouldn't get sleepy or sit there mutely wondering what was for lunch, because everybody present participates. Yep, everybody. Worship is not a spectator sport. This book is a stimulating read, and it's based on solid research--all documented. It's one of those life-changing books that comes into your life quietly--and leaves you changed. I liked it so much that I've ordered a complete library of Viola's books. I want to know more!

I believe every Christian should read this book it will bring you closer to God not farther away. You will be shocked to learn what is wrong with our church "system". I bought this book because I was seeing things in the "church" that does NOT line up with scripture. We are now starting a home group.

This is beyond excellent. The scholarship is exceptional. The truths explored are powerful and clear. This book unveils the traditions created by man that has watered down, bound up, and hindered the true Church of Jesus Christ. Reading this will change your life if your heart is open to the Holy Spirit. You'll be amazed when you see how we have been blinded to the simplicity and purity of the church Jesus wants to build in the earth. You will learn how to shake off the chains, but others who are comfortable in their traditions may not appreciate your new views or freedom. Read this. Read the references. This can be a manual that will enhance your understanding of the Word of God because it will enable you to read it without the glasses of tradition hindering your vision.

I was recommended this item by Dr. Timothy R Jennings. I decided to purchase the Audio CDs. The plastic casing was imperfect; not closing properly. Amazon did not hesitate to offer me a replacement or a refund. In the end, I just kept the CDs for myself (they were originally to be a present).The content of this 'book' (from 2008) is eye-opening. We have been removed from the Biblical faith of the early church and have thought that what we practice today is genuine Christianity. Well, in your case it may well be, as the adornments have little to do with actual internal beliefs. But it seems that we need to strip away all that clutters, and live out our faith as Christ and the Apostles did. Easier said than done? You are probably right. However, this book should be required reading for every soul who confesses Christ as his/her Saviour. The result would a simple, practical faith that looks not to prelates and buildings and rituals and forms of religion but to the inner temple of God. Do I recommend it? Only if you are willing to work through the discomfort that is inevitable if a change is to be wrought. Sincerely, Chris HARLE.

I started blogging way back before it was called blogging. It was part of my football scholarship in the mid-90s. I had to keep an online journal of my life as a student-athlete. I first used WordPress in 2004. Well, since then, I've had it off and on. Mainly life getting in the way of writing. Take 6 months off, ends up being 2 years and everything I knew no longer worked. I like to call this lull, "The blank period". I've had at least 5 blank periods and each time I came back, it seemed like everything had changed. So when I decided to start back blogging, in 2014, I came to the Kindle Books wondering if someone had detailed all the ways to get started on WordPress. I didn't have any preference and just picked one that had reviews that used words like, "simple", "straightforward" and picked this one. I'm happy to say this book has put an end to the blank period. I didn't have to spend 7 days trying to figure out how to get things going. Then another 7 trying to talk myself out of quitting. It would be highly recommended for true beginners and those like me who quit using WordPress then can't remember how to use it. Very happy with the price and the fact that everything I needed to get started, not just 89% of everything I needed, was in the book. Great job on this one.

I use Wordpress almost daily.All of my websites are built using Wordpress, I have built the overwhelming majority of my freelance clients websites over the years with Wordpress, and at my day job I am the principal web person responsible for more than 30 company websites (more than 90% I have built with Wordpress) - so I grabbed this book just out of sheer curiosity - and as a guide for bringing a beginner up-to-speed on managing a website built with Wordpress, it is great.I use this book to help get the interns and content writers/managers who work under me at my day job acclimated to Wordpress so that they are able to take the sites I have built and use them without hesitation or mistake. None have complained, and now use the basic functions of Wordpress like old pros.Now, if you are looking for a guide that will help you do things like create custom themes using your own HTML/PHP/CSS code, or integrate some features and functions that are not available strictly through the "intended" usage of Wordpress and various plugins, then no, this book is not for you (you will need one - or several - far more advanced and expensive guides) - but if you are just getting started with Wordpress and want to bring yourself up to speed on using it quickly and efficiently, then I highly recommend that this be your first resource.

This book is a must read if you are brand new to Wordpress and have no idea where to begin. Given her background as a programmer, Sarah does a great job of walking you through everything, from setting up your hosting account, to installing WordPress on your domain, to adding pages, posts, changing themes, SEO etc. I originally bought this book because I wanted to do a makeover for my family's Christmas Tree farm website. I had some basic html knowledge but I was looking for a platform that offered WYSISYG features and that wasn't going to involve extensive coding ( that stuff gives me a headache). The Wordpress platform suited my needs and at no point did I feel lost in going through the book. I am a visual person and the fact that she created a separate website ( keeping chickens.net ) as the sample website for her readers to view was a godsend for me.Now I will mention that there are a lot more things she could have included and perhaps elaborated on some of the more desirable features of Wordpress such as plugins, social media etc - but the point of this book is to get the basic idea of how to create a website on your own domain. If you want to take it further, she does a wonderful job in providing her readers with additional resources for Wordpress themes, plugins and mentions what she personally uses and recommends. Also she introduces her readers to an excellent hosting company, Hostgator. While going through her book I actually had to contact Hostgator because I was transferring my domain from another company, and that in itself was like pulling teeth - not fun and many hours spent on the phone. However, Hostgator's customer service is impeccable. They did a really great job of answering my questions and addressing my needs, especially after explaining to them that I was not an experienced web developer.What really blew me away was the author herself. I have gone to Sarah's website, wordpress2go.com, reviewed her resources and recommendations and personally contacted her with additional questions. She was very prompt in her responses and did a wonderful job answering my questions. There are so many different books on Wordpress, but this is the one to get if you want to get a basic, not too technical but very clear idea about how to use this wonderful platform to create websites. Even better that when you contact the author herself she responds in a timely manner.

About the Author

Dr. Francine Shapiro is the originator and developer of EMDR therapy. She is a Senior Research Fellow at the Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto, California, Director of the EMDR Institute, and founder of the non-profit EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs, which provides pro bono training and treatment to underserved populations worldwide. She is a recipient of the International Sigmund Freud Award for Psychotherapy of the City of Vienna, the American Psychological Association Trauma Psychology Division Award for Outstanding Contributions to Practice in Trauma Psychology, and the Distinguished Scientific Achievement in Psychology Award, from the California Psychological Association. I hate to leave a negative review for this book - but it just didn't live up to my expectations. There are far, far, far too many case studies - which I found completely useless! I found myself wanting to get to the point and "meat" of the book and it just never happened. This book could be better but it's in serious need of a lot of editing.

This is a wonderful book and I am a great believer in EMDR. Many years ago I was under multiple stresses and had a panic attack(out of the blue) on the Golden Gate Bridge and couldn't drive the freeways or on bridges for about 7 years. I went to many classes as well as to therapy but nothing helped. My sister suggested EMDR and after 2 sessions (which I was sure were ineffective and that the Dr. was a quack!), I found myself driving again with no problem. The Doctor was actually an angel in my life and left me a total believer in EMDR. It is painless and works well on Post Traumatic Stress. This book is well written and definitely worth reading and keeping in your library!!!

I've been struggling with my past for years and knew of EMDR therapy, but didn't have a lot of success when I was first introduced to the protocol. Mostly because of a lacking ability to find a safe place.Knowing the possibility of "fixing" myself was within reach, I read this book. I'm a hands on learner, and without understanding the whole process, it is difficult to allow someone else to take the reins and guide me, which is what a trained professional will do during EMDR Therapy.Reading this book gave me so much insight into how the brain works with regards to memories and the connecting emotions. It also allowed me to open my own memory networks and identify a number of Touchstone Memories to work through with my therapist.

This is a must-read for everyone, regardless of your mental health. The appeal to the intellectual part of my brain is what sold it for me. It began to make so much sense that unprocessed memories from childhood will "trigger" *reactions* in adulthood. Anyone who spends any time reflecting on why they react in certain ways and then tries to work on it, will have 1,000 a-ha moments reading this book. It also speaks to how the brain is a finicky thing. Just because you haven't suffered a capital T trauma, it still can nag at you in unsuspecting ways. For all the people who had unkind teachers, coaches, unsupportive parents, this will be help you understand why you might find yourself emotionally saying from time to time: "Jeez it bugs me so much when" but intellectually saying "Jeez it shouldn't bug me so much when" :)

This is one of the most important books that I've ever read. And I read a lot. This truly explains why we are what we are. I've learned so much about not only myself but others. This should be required reading before Andy marriage. Lol. My only issue is that after doing some more research, I believe that EMDR could be self administered and I wish the author and creator of the technique would have developed it as such. I'm sure she would have gotten backlash from other clinicians because that would cut into their money, but it would have been able to help many more people.

Amazing. I bought the hard back 7 yrs ago and read thru it w/out doing the actual work. It was insightful then, but I wish I had started the actual work at that time. I got the kindle version and will never lose it and have started the work in earnest and WOW I am learning what really is running 'the show'. I am also doing the eye movement pattern when processing a trigger event and have incorporated positive memories and thoughts into my patterns. So grateful for this info. It will change my life.

Guess I was ready. There isn't much alternative therapy where I live, and so I set about "EMDRing" myself. First session and I have been better--and improving--ever since. And I am 63 years old with YEARS and YEARS of emotional and physical abuse in my history. You got to be ready, though, and that's the best way I know to put it. All I can tell you is I tried years of prescriptions and counseling, then I tried years of binaural beat therapy (which helped until something happened and I got scared), and then I tried guided imagery (not for me--so much anxiety that it made me worse), and CBT, DBT, the entire alphabet--until I ran into this one. I am still reading this book in little bits at a time, then trying the tips in it. But something has happened in my brain and it is because of this book. I am so glad I bought it. Long time coming.

I am a huge For Dummies fan, but they didn't have one on Fluid Mechanics; so I bought this. I have to say, I definitely appreciate For Dummies more now that I read this book. DeMYSTiFieD doesn't teach/explain everything as well, however it was better than my textbook so I really can't complain. Worth it if you are struggling to grasp the concepts in Fluid Mechanics, but you really have to read everything slowly and carefully...sometimes a few times.

Very sound clear course on fluid mechanics - includes just enough math and formulae to be practical.It is NOT overwhelming, thank goodness.

it helps with my studies

I bought this as a supplement for my fluid mechanics text book. I don't think it is as good as the "Dummies" series of books but it serves the purpose. The quizzes are helpful to ensure you know the topic before moving on.

The product was just what I thought what I was getting. Happy with it so far.

I got "Thermo-dynamics" for Dummies and this book to help me solve and understand some challenging problems outside my expertise at work and both books came in very handy. I think both would be great for someone who did not have to take a proper class in either, or like me, only academic work I had for both subjects was 1st year physics.Pre-req's: basic physics review; Calculus; or maybe some experience or understanding in basic hydraulics and pneumatics.

Not helpful for understanding simple hydraulics and how they work
