Not sure why this book is so hard to follow but I find the projects, and the plans lacking in desirability and in simplicity. Nice introduction on types of wood if you dont already know. You are better off finding individual plans from web sites than relying on this book to build any outdoor projects unless you find a copy at a library or bookstore and actually find a plan or two that you can build.

This book is for an advanced person and does not have instructions for a basic picnic table. Not for an amateur.

Designs are ok. Not too advanced. A novice craftsman could assemble these pieces...

Good start, bit confusing at times but i've succeed in building from it!

Very detailed instructions. I can't wait to start making some of these projects!

But it is a gift for my son and he made two large sofas and is having cushions made up for them .

Excellent Map!!!!! This is the best single view DVNP map I have seen. We do remote offroad overlanding and we purchased this map to use for our recent 4 day remote backcountry traverse of DVNP. The map is pretty perfect. Just know that the dashed black line trails on the map for DVNP - equate to washboard. No fault of the cartographer - just that DVNP is known for vicious washboard. Highly recommend this map to anyone going to DVNP as it provides plenty of detail and the convenience of the entire park on a single side. NatGeo TI maps are my other go to and we also had that one for this trip - but we found ourselves using the Tom Harrison map the majority of the time.

Very nice write-onable waterproof material. Quite good size - any bigger would be unmanageable and smaller would be unnecessarily larger scale. It is quite readable. My only disappointments are: a) it is completely blank on the back which is useful for writing notes etc but i would have appreciated some info about the park and trails on the back or some insets etc of some places likely to be visited. Also, online I found descriptions of a dozen or so trails that I don't find marked on the map. Since the map is not crowded with words or lines they could have added these trails without sacrificing anything and i am sure they kNOW about them being expertes on the place. But I am happy to have the map so I give it a solid 4 stars.

All Tom Harrison maps are excellent. This one has enough details to find your way anywhere in the Valley, and everything is on one side so you can see the big picture and plan your routes without making mental connections after flipping the map over.

Tom Harrison maps are excellent. I have bought both Harrison and National Geographic maps. Harrison maps are always better -- far better. Better detail. Far more legible. Unfortunately, they are only for parks and areas in California.

Used this map to prepare and plan my trip to DV and also used it every single day while driving and hiking through the park. Really great and detailed map and the quality is top notch - did not need any other maps on my 8 day visit to this park (including a jeep drive through Titus Canyon Road).

This map is not very good. Simply a topo map with no explanations on off road routes or hiking trails. I bought this map in advance of our trip and ended up buying the National Geographic version at the Death Valley visitors center. I would not recommend this map.

This is *the* map for exploring Death Valley back country. current edition (2016). Just be sure to check the road conditions before you set out!

I have quite a lot of information on Death Valley. I wanted to get a different map to compare to what I already had. While I do like this map quite a bit it lacks one feature that recently helped me guide someone unfamiliar with the area. Mileage between points on backcountry roads. I also think the NatGeo Map is on a somewhat thicker paper. Both are coated to repel water.

My kids don't want to fill it out but I think this book is a GREAT idea for ANYONE, young and old, who has adhd. I think this even goes beyond and can help anyone who has 'forgetfulness' or is 'disorganized'. This is a good book to get to help get to the root of the problem and help break the cycle. I like that it isn't a lecture, tt is more a worksheet. I can't wait to finish.

I love this series of books. It helps me share valuable infirmation with clients in a fadt paced OP therapy setting.

This book starts with three letters, one each to teens, parents, and professionals. It is just as the title say’s, it is a workbook to help teens with ADHD to be mindful in all areas of their lives. I honestly think that it is a wonderful workbook for any tween and teen, not just those with ADD/ ADHD, but for any tween and teen to help them keep on task. This book talks on many ways of organizing life that many tween and teen's don't have as they grow into adulthood because schools don’t teach it, and most adults do not have the time honestly( which is sad but true) My daughter is ADHD and I could see her wanting to do this on her own honestly because she wants to control herself but does not know how. I am going to work with her this summer through this book so when she goes into 6th this fall she can go in with a clear mind and ready for what is to come.

Hmm, I was very intrigued by Debra Burdick's introductory letter to parents' of teens with ADHD; 'you can help them use it and encourage them to stay on track...you may review each activity with them...ask them how or when they will do an activity...remind them to schedule it on their calendar app.' I have two teenage sons with ADHD; both are good boys, aware of their condition and that they need to manage it to lead fulfilling lives, but...as a parent, pinning them down to study mindfulness, no matter how well written, how well constructed, how targeted to their individual attention spans...not possible for me, in fact nigh on impossible. As an adult with ADHD myself, I am aware of the benefits of mindfulness activities, and also that mindfulness can take many forms, so I will guide them in this direction where I can, perhaps even be a bit sneaky about including exercises from this book in their day - but targeted exercises at present, no chance.That said, managing ADHD is, and always will be, more of a working towards, than an achieved state, and as books go, this is very well written and constructed for the teen mind - as well as for the adult with ADHD who also is also a 'working towards'!A good book to have in your library ready to seize that moment when it arrives!

I won a copy of this book through a giveaway on GoodReads and the following is my honest review.I’m envious of the author since I never got to experience the joy of having any grandparent on neither side of my family as they had been unable to survive the atrocities of the Holocaust. While having my parents as survivors still gave me a level of emotions other readers probably can’t relate to.There’s quite a bit of an old-fashioned Shtetl mentality which persists in the minds of many of those who’ve survived the Holocaust and having parents being a barrier between the author and his grandmother gave him the best of both worlds, a luxury I unfortunately didn’t have.There’s quite a range of emotions which can be found through the pages of this book, emotions which can at times make its readers cry and laugh at others.The personal insight of this horrific time of history of the world paints a picture which anyone can relate to, whether they’re Jewish or not.For the compassionate story Mr Lazega has given us I’m compelled to his endeavor 5 STARS.

This book is absolutely astounding! I'm on my second time through now and learning more details I somehow missed the first time.I can say whether you're the type who likes a good, engaging read or one who prefers to listen to his books (I also have the audio book for the car - the voices are amazing), I believe you'll find this journey through the life and struggles of one Jewish grandmother highly interesting & provocative.I'd highly recommend this book and especially gifting it to others; most of my friends and relatives are now grateful to better understand the significance of this period in history.

When I read about someone and I wish I could have known them, then that is a real tribute to both the author and the subject. All too often biographical memories are written from a position of pain, but this one describes the life and attitudes that help overcome difficulties with humor, and the naivety of immigrants trying to anticipate what officials are really asking.

This is an amazing book that warms the heart. Bubbie is a character that we are all endeared to in one form or another. A strong, stubborn yet amazingly loving individual, Bubbie exemplifies so much of what we love in our more "passionate" friends and relatives. I was lucky to have grown up with my own Bubbie, a woman whose decades old lessons still guide me everyday. The author did a great job of portraying the impact one individual can have on may others. Great Read!

Witty, sad, inspirational and wrought with humor, this story of a woman's life, and the effect it had upon a deeply interesting family, brings to life a somewhat familiar holocaust story as seen through an entirely different, new and engaging lens. The attorney turned author (or is it the other way around?) captivates his audience through an almost screenplay-type dialogue (think Hollywood-bound) with wit, humor and a balanced rhythm - this is now on my required reading list for friends and family. This author may have found his true calling. Can't wait to see it make its way to the big screen. Read it. Period.

Wow! An incredible true story about an incredible woman and her family that leaves you inspired. Russel does an amazing job of capturing the emotion and determination of his grandmother as she does whatever she can to keep her family going during a sad and horrific period in world history. The family members are brought to life through Russel's creative style, alternating between historical recounts of Bubbie's efforts to get her and her family to America and the hilarious banter that takes place amongst them while watching Let's Make A Deal and grabbing the last of the whitefish. An amazing story that will leave you inspired. A must read!

I loved this book and am in awe at the strength and will of Bubbie! Her courage and perseverance put all of us today to shame! I appreciate the obvious love between heroine and author. I would recommend this to others! Well done.

Enjoyed the book but don't think it lived up to all of the hype.

This book is light on instruction, but is it deceptively light? Most pages only have 4 pictures from start to finish (and really, it's only 3, as the final picture is just for adding color). So is it possible to go from a blank page to a detailed animal in just 3 steps? It doesn't seem like it should be possible, but this book actually kinda works. While it's light on illustrated examples, it's even lighter on written instructions. A few lines here and there could be of great use to a beginning artist. Even just 1 or 2 tips per illustration wouldn't clutter the minimalist layout, though it would make this guide significantly more useful. But, I can't argue with results, I guess. The simplicity seems to work -- some of the animals I have drawn are not altogether horrendous, so I guess the authors are onto something.

From the very beginning you'll be drawing some amazing animals. I was impressed with how easy this makes drawing animals. The examples start at the very basic of shapes and lead you through to the final rendering. It doesn't give you an exact step-by-step but if you have any experience drawing at all, you'll have no problem using this educational tool. Polly managed to take an intimidating topic and make it simple. Highly recommend this to anyone who is wanting to get better at drawing animals.

I've been drawing and painting for many years; but I do enjoy collecting drawing books. Occasionally I encourage people to draw who are fixated on believing that they cannot draw. I can prove them wrong.This book approaches drawing in a very basic manner, step by step. I won't say you will create a perfect drawing the very first time; but you will be amazed how close you can come. If you can draw circles, ovals, squares, rectangles and triangles, you will be able to use this book. One thing, this book is entirely pictorial. You will need another type of drawing book to find out more about supplies and techniques. If you are a practiced artist, you already have that information and if you are a beginner, just grab a pencil, paper and eraser. make your drawing and color it in. I think you will have a good time and for the price, how can you lose.

I love the simplicity it has and the fact that it is mainly just images which allow easier concentration when it comes to being able to focus on what they are trying to teach as opposed to trying to figure out what words meant. Especially since this was a gift for a friend who doesn't speak enough english to comprehend large chunks of information thrown at her.

I bought this for my grandchildren (ages 9 and 12) who were visiting this summer. How wonderful to find something they liked to do that was not electronic! I am not an artist, but I think that the way this book approaches drawing - gradually expanding the detail on a few underlying shapes - actually helps kids see differently. Sophisticated art that distills reality into basic shapes may even make more sense, if they learn to draw starting with those shapes. A great rainy day book!

Very awesome learn to draw book, my 7 year old loves it! The way the steps are laid out it's easy enough for her to follow and it can be as simple or get as detailed as they want to take it. It's even a great book for adults to learn to draw.

Definitely worth it. This is a good education book as well as a great basic book for starting drawing different animals but with similar forms.

This is a well written text, addressing a very important topic. It invites the reader to see the issue of human migrations from the perspective of social history.

This book was written before the world learned that the U.S. government had forcibly and often with no warning, taken thousands of children from their parents. This was done with no plans to reunite them and justified as a "deterrent" to other migrants fleeing violence in Central America.What a tragedy. The world has more refugees now--60 million, nearly half of them children--than at any time in history. And yet our current government is focused on creating false reasons to fear them, rather than giving humane reasons to help them.The current administration may have learned nothing from history, but Jacqueline Bhabha has. This is a factual book about migration, but also a philosophical book about morality and ethics. She first analyzes the situation world-wide (the "problem"), then asks the questions that humane societies should ask themselves about what is realistic to do? What is our individual and collective responsibility? She explains the laws that apply to international refugee migration as well as so-called "economic migration", for hardship. She reminds us that "the primary drivers of distress migration are conflict, natural disasters and climate change, global inequality and demographic changes" adding, "no solution to the current refugee and immigration crisis can be found solely by addressing its most evident symptoms." (p113).Hers is a global perspective with global solutions suggested. She looks at the world-wide refugee migration trends and what nations can do, including through the United Nations. It is a broad view, not just focused on the United States, but very important for the United States, caught in a moral crisis. She pays attention to the effect of this situation on a young generation of millions of refugees--what will they grow into, left as they are in the refuse camps of the world, deprived of education and the basic essentials of existence that most of the world enjoys?Bhabha doesn't just describe the problems--which she does very well--she takes on the solutions, an array of very specific ones. This is a small book--only 132 pages--but its an important one. It's a call to conscience that includes real-world recommendations for ways to help. Definitely recommended (This is well written and an easy read--I can think of several college courses where this would be excellent required reading, stimulating discussion and thought.)

For the past few years, the topic of immigration has been a prominent sound bite subject on news programs as well as in political debates. Neither forum has adequately addressed the issues from a historical, a moral/ethical duty, or a root cause perspective nor have they offered any real potential solutions.Jacqueline Bhabha, author of Can We Solve the Migration Crisis? does and excellent job of explaining the “migration crisis” is not new and in terms of historical migration is certainly not the largest. History is filled with migration crises.One of the most important things you will learn is that in the majority of cases immigration is not undertaken as an act of aspiration but one of desperation - for survival.She also explores the notion of sovereign borders and the growing tendency to keep out those who do not fit into the notion of our culture. Ms. Bhabha delves deep into the ethical questions about our duty to help those whose quality of life is hopeless and often their survival is threatened.As everyone who has looked at the immigration problem has acknowledged, the system is not working. With the growing trend of nationalism and the increasing problems brought on by political conflict, climate change, natural disasters and economic disparity, the migration problems are becoming more acute.Ms. Bhabha does offer some concrete suggestions for solving the problems – not by treating the symptoms but by addressing the root causes of the problems. The question is do we have the moral and political resolve to do what is necessary.Rather than spend time and money on building a wall, we would all be better equipped to discuss the problem if we had a better understanding of the issues involved. This book offers a good first step to that understanding.Ms. Bhabha does an excellent job of articulating the problem and offering some suggestions. She is an expert on the subject. Her writing style/language is for an audience slightly higher than the general public.This book is published by Polity Press. Their approach is to adequately cover a complex subject in approximately 120 pages and to provide substantial further reading/research resources for those who wish to go deeper.Both the author and publisher accomplished their goal with this book

Bhabha's book is a short and thought-provoking read about the history of migration issues, the duty to address them and some possible solutions. The average nationalist is not going to pick this book up, but for those who are sincerely interested in the issue of migration, this provides helpful historical context and some philosophical mandates and some possible solutions. This is a topic of great interest to me and I found this slim volume added to the breadth of my knowledge. There's a lot of good stuff here, but if I had to pick one "sound bite" it would be this quote from page 3: "...only where migrating populations have brought with them superior technical abilities or unknown germs have their arrivals posed fatal threats or long-term security challenges to the settled population."

I am, in general, a big fan of these excellent short Polity books that provide a different focus and thus a good introduction to political and social issues that are arising with urgency and force....now. My students study migration principally through the lens of the implications of changing climate. This short book will both complement and deepen their perspective. As is often the case with these short Polity books, I wish that there had been just a little better editing.
