FLOVE this book!Last night at work I had a couple of hours to kill while systems and programs updated. My immediate thought was, "what do I want to read?". Honestly, though I have almost 4000 books in my Kindle library, I couldn't think of anything I wanted to read that I hadn't already. I figured I'd browse my options and just pick something. I can't even express accurately my level of excitement at seeing Hosed at the top of the list, having totally forgotten about pre-ordering it. I have read several books by Lili Valente, and everything from Pippa Grant (she may or may not be my author crush 😊). Together, this dynamic writing duo did not disappoint.Before I made it through the first chapter, I had tears running down my face from laughing so hard. Ryan and Cassie are cute and steamy and so much fun. The secondary characters are quirky and hysterical, and add to the crazy mayhem that unfolds from the very first page.These authors pulled out all the stops. I was laughing and crying and experiencing all kinds of feels. I loved how the story played out, though I would have been overjoyed to see the sheep lover get slapped a little harder by karma...but that's just me.I'm really hoping to see stories revolving around at least five of the characters in Hosed, and George Cooney needs a recurring role...and why isn't dildo football a real thing? Or is it? I need to Google it. 😉My only regret with reading this was the timing. I really should not have started reading this with only a couple of hours available. I was saddened to have to put it down and actually go back to work. 😁Do yourself a favor and 1-click Hosed...and for the love of all that is holy, make sure you have enough time, because you will not want to put it down.

This book brings the heat and the sweet. Wow, what a duo these authors make! I so very much enjoyed the classic hilarity and snark of a great Pippa Grant book along with the sweet and spicy talents of Lili Valente. This book was such a marriage of all my favorite things. All this fun starts out in a quiet southern town that is up in arms about a sex toy factory’s presence in their neighborhood. Cassie is the shy gamer girl that has to return to the town where she grew up to help straighten out her sister’s crazy life. She is completely out of her element when she is asked to step in and run her sister’s factory. To make matter’s worse, she finds that her neighbor is the boy that crushed her heart in high school. Ryan is not a boy anymore, but a hot firefighter now, and is determined to make her his. Complete with a crime fighting raccoon, and an explosion of sex toys, the story will melt your heart and your panties all at the same time. This is the perfect read for a cold winter day.

This tasty morsel of a book has all those wonderful elements that keep you salivating and consuming each delicious word - sweet, spice, snark, snort-laugh out loud, heart clenching painful breaths and a rollicking “hell’s-yeah what a great epilogue!”Pippa Grant is my girl crush and it has been such a pleasure of an introduction to Lili too.You can read the blurb for an accurate summary of the story details but I’m just gonna say from my perspective - this has been a most enjoyable, pleasurable and satisfying few hours spent on a wonderful, funny and heart-warming book and I will return to purchase these authors’ works every opportunity they give me to.

Pippa Grant does it again, and this time with Lili Valente. I'm a little ashamed to admit this is only my 3rd Lili book, and after I post this I'm going to be loading up my tbr list with her. The story revolves around a sister, Cassie, who comes to town to take over running Savannah's Sex toy Factory, only Cassie is still a virgin and out of her comfort zone. Yes there's plenty of sex toy humor through out the book. Ryan is the childhood crush that is back and hotter than ever as the town firefighter and neighbor with a pet raccoon, George Cooney, that has so many antics you can't help but laugh out loud and think, "I want a George in my life". The small town antics in Happy Cat are just as cute as you can imagine a small town to be. This book is funny, cute, with a touch of a mystery and will have you smiling from the title of chapter one, all the way through until you download the bonus Epilogue!

I adore Pippa Grant's books. I've never read Lili Valente before. So I was absolutely looking forward to this one. Loved the town, quirky characters and who doesn't love George Cooney. But this seemed more like a set up for a series that might be really good. This one just didn't float my boat. It's worth reading as its fluffy and fun. Just not sure I'll read any more of them if it becomes a series.

I just can't get enough of Pippa Grant's quirky writing style.I've never had the pleasure of reading one of Lili Valente books but it is now on my tbr list.Hosed is about a girl, who is a gamer, that comes home to helps her sister's sex toy company out. Savannah, has left the country with no intention of comeing back anytime soon, after her boyfriend is caught with fornicating sheep, who he says the sheep is in love with him.When a fire breaks out at the factory, it becomes apparent that it is arson.Cassie and her sister Savannah become suspects.Cassie, is staying in Savannah's house who just happened to live next door to Ryan O'Dell, the sexy fighter fighter that she has a past with from highschool.He doesn't realize that he broke her heart in highschool and now she wants nothing to do with him.He will do whatever it takes, to get back in her good graces.Along with George Cooney, his pet raccoon, they work to win her over and solve who is setting the fires.A cute and laughable, story that will have you falling in love with the characters. ♥️

First, I read "Confessions of a Spy: The True Story of Aldrich Ames". That book was excellent. It was written with input from Ames, himself. Kind of from his point of view. I decided to read "Circle of Treason" next. This book was written by individuals who were responsible for catching Ames, from their perspective. Both books are written in exquisite detail, and both books seem to corroborate, and at times, reveal even more details on both sides. I read these books at home and at work. I hated having to put my book down, because these are genuinely intense, at least to me. My advice...start with Confessions of a Spy and proceed on to Circle of Treason, just for sequential reasons. You will get to know Aldrich Ames in the first book, and then, certain events and plot points come together in the second. I am certain that you will find these books to be very interesting. Happy reading.

One of the most revealing, authentic and long-waited books yet published about Ames case written by two CIA veterans with direct knowledge of many dramatic episodes of the Cold War.The authors - Vertefeuille&Grimes - two tenacious and experienced CIA officers made a superb team (supported by many other colleagues) and wrote, with authority and convinction, a book with many priceless stories.What makes this book so compelling is that almost every word is true, but, by no means, a complete picture of many Cold War episodes, as you can see below.The book starts in the first two chapters with a personal description of authors' careers, a fine team as I said, after a short, but explanatory, preface.In chapter three we were provided with an insightful look and general overview of SE (Soviet and East European) division operations.Starting with chapter 4 and continuing with the next two, we're providing with the best account about Polyakov case, the GRU general receiving a special attention from the authors and a special dedication at the beginning of the book.The facts are as detailed as possible, but omitted one important factor - the death of one of Polyakov sons in US, because he was not allowed, by his superiors, to carry out a life-saving surgical operation in a US hospital (Cherkashin&Feifer/Spy Handler) a fact emerging in revenge on the Soviet system, a key element in supporting his double life.I liked the story of Walt Lomac, an example of personal integrity, in the clash with his CIA superiors about Polyakov bona fide (page 33-34).Major spy cases are presented in a genuine manner in the next two chapters (40 pages) summarizing the activities of Kulak, Chernov, Poleshuk Piguzov, Yuzhin among others, actually the most valuable CIA network in history. Speaking about B. Yuzhin I noticed, for the first time in the public domain, "the contribution" of FBI's Pitts in this case.Vertefeuille&Grimes related with accuracy and in fascinating detail each case and I believe that no one knows as much background on these cases as they.Chapters 9-16 are dedicated to the first reactions to the losses of 1985, gradually focusing on Ames investigation specifically.The last chapters are more analytical describing Ames (as person and as spy), a comparison between Ames and Hanssen- a fascinating look into the minds of these two characters and concluding with "Final thoughts", a chapter filled with substantial evidence of a somehow troubled US intel community. The book did not spare criticizing some key figures of SE division- for example, M. Bearden activity receiving a particular "scrutiny" (page 19, 100, 133, 211 etc).The interval between pages 194-207 is filled with an extremely valuable Chronology, a true intelligence history of events and main characters.The book is well supported by 18 B&W photos showing the main characters of the book (5 are with Polyakov).There is a useful and short notes section and bibliography to indicate the sources of various statements, so the readers can verify their accuracy, consider the context, or follow them further. There is also a comprehensive index.In searching for a title to my review I was about to write "a complete study", but few "anomalies" convinced me to change my mind. Ocassionaly, I also did not like the switching between first and third person, often in a very confusing manner. (sometimes a third "person" is speaking about the authors!)Firstly, there are no accounts about the help of a Russian defector in capturing Ames, a deliberately omission, in my opinion. The authors gave no details about the defector's support - providing no name, but dates, places and times that meshed with the background of Ames - a fact mentioned in two books (Bearden&Risen/The Main Enemy and Cherkashin&Feifer/Spy Handler) and named by R.Kessler (The secrets of the FBI) as being Alexander Zaporozhsky, one of the four Western spies involved in the July 2010 spy swap. This man truly deserves a book for the story of his life.Another intriguing account referred to the fate of V. Vetrov, the famous "Farewell". It is hard to believe-after reading several books and professional opinions- that Vetrov, as KGB veteran, made the stupid mistake to confess his spying to an unknown person (in prison!), the story so frequently stated in earlier books about this case. Much close to the truth, I believe, is that he was betrayed by someone in the CIA (Bearden) or DST/DGSE (Kalugin).Thirdly, the fact that both traitors were discovered with the help of ex-KGB/SVR agents was not included in chapter 18 - A comparision between Ames and Hanssen, obviously also a deliberate omission.Eventually, throughout the book, the authors are not addressing rumors of an undiscovered KGB spy- another Ames or Hanssen- still at large in the US intel community, the so-called "the fourth mole", an interesting episode confirmed by both Bearden (as one involved in the investigations) and Cherkashin (who, as KR line chief, should have direct knowledge or could be the handler of this spy). However, inside the book (page 72) there are a few tidbits about some anomalies represented by O. Gordievsky and S. Bokhan cases. In later case, it is not clear when he was recruited (1975/page 97 or 1976/page 72 and 196); also, in some studies, Gordievsky is suspected that he was recruited as back as 1966, SIS taking over in 1974.Written by two fine and skilled storytellers as a lesson in the murky world of intelligence during Cold War, this book is a remarkable and major contribution to the literature of espionage that treats spy wars between KGB/SVR and CIA.For every serious student who likes dead-serious nonfiction books it should be a required and indispensable reading.Five stars and recommended!

I bought this book because I saw the series via Netflix that featured Sandra and Jeanne tracking down the traitor Aldrich Ames. The TV series was excellent. The book was difficult for me at the start because of unfamiliarity with the alphabet soup of Directorates (Departments/Divisions) of the CIA as the authors went through their timeline of events. Likewise with the names of all the Russians, with the exception of General Polyakov who is featured prominently in the TV series as well as in the book. Having worked in government I can appreciate their disgust on how the bureaucracy did a CYA scramble when Congress did its grandstanding looking for scapegoats; not to mention the demeaning attitude directed towards them because of being female. The FBI taking all the credit is standard operating procedure for them. However, the world of counterintelligence knows who really nailed this traitor. And President Clinton recognized that too as noted by Jeanne. And the treatment of them by Congress is not surprising if you watch the everyday news--it's no wonder Trump and Carson are currently more appealing than those lifetime politicians. These women, as well as the heroes they name in the last chapter, help to keep America safe from harm as they labor tirelessly over reams of foreign information. I consider it a duty to country to read their story. Read this book and then catch the TV series on your Netflix program.

I was super intrigued by The Big Nine’s subject: Artifical Intelligence b/c I’ve always wanted to learn more but found myself gravitating to books that were filled with concepts, language and examples that were (let’s be honest) over my head. This was so not the case with The Big Nine. The author, Amy Webb, has a great voice and breaks everything down so even the most novice of AI consumers can digest it. Looking forward to starting conversations at the bus stop, grocery line, water cooler and social events about AI b/c it is important for us all to understand how AI is impacting all of us now.

Sometimes there's a book that knocks you off your seat and forces you to PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR LIFE in a totally new way. This extraordinary book is one of them.I never hated my period before, I just didn't pay it much attention. But after hearing the authors talk about the "extatic states" they experienced during bleeding and the incredible power that could come from living into one's cycle, I was intrigued.As per their instructions, I've now been tracking my cycle for a while, and it's an understatement to say that it's changed my life. I have much more understanding of myself as a cyclical being, more compassion for my ever-changing abilities/moods/needs and an ability to plan my life around such changes that makes the questions of when to create, when to socialize, and when to cocoon myself a lot more manageable and, dare I say it, magical.This book is up there for me with Brene Brown, Tara Brach and the Big Book of AA in terms of how much of an impact its had on me. Thank Goddess that these women wrote it.

She keeps repeating the same thing over and over in the book, concepts that sound more like stories of other people's experience in her Red school program (that you need to pay for on your own later through her website if you want the REAL information), not necessarily teaching you more than 5-10 pages worth of solid info about how the menstrual cycle has "seasons" that you can follow and if you identify how you feel at the time=identify the "season" youre in=work and function a little better in your daily life ,etc. Overall, its 3 stars because it gave me a few pages worth of info. But aside from that, its repeating the same guideline, stories from others, and her asking tons of questions like "Have you ever felt like.....". Its not that informative. I would buy another book.

I LOVE this book - it's making such a difference in the way that I use and save my precious energy and the way that I speak to myself. I have a new kindness and gentleness half the month that is both giving me joy and actually making me more productive because I know better what to expect from my body and can plan with that, instead of just getting overwhelmed and beating myself up about it. Thank you Sjanie and Alexandra for this important work!!

Life changing book, beautifully written with so much truth and courage it brought me to tears! Many times! The authors give so much insight into our menstruation journey; while still encouraging each woman to write her own unique story and follow her own wild power. My health, my relationships and my depth of self love have all been strengthened by the awakening this book has helped me come to! Buy one for you and one for every women you love!! Seriously;)

Not sure why this book is so hard to follow but I find the projects, and the plans lacking in desirability and in simplicity. Nice introduction on types of wood if you dont already know. You are better off finding individual plans from web sites than relying on this book to build any outdoor projects unless you find a copy at a library or bookstore and actually find a plan or two that you can build.

This book is for an advanced person and does not have instructions for a basic picnic table. Not for an amateur.

Designs are ok. Not too advanced. A novice craftsman could assemble these pieces...

Good start, bit confusing at times but i've succeed in building from it!

Very detailed instructions. I can't wait to start making some of these projects!

But it is a gift for my son and he made two large sofas and is having cushions made up for them .

Excellent Map!!!!! This is the best single view DVNP map I have seen. We do remote offroad overlanding and we purchased this map to use for our recent 4 day remote backcountry traverse of DVNP. The map is pretty perfect. Just know that the dashed black line trails on the map for DVNP - equate to washboard. No fault of the cartographer - just that DVNP is known for vicious washboard. Highly recommend this map to anyone going to DVNP as it provides plenty of detail and the convenience of the entire park on a single side. NatGeo TI maps are my other go to and we also had that one for this trip - but we found ourselves using the Tom Harrison map the majority of the time.

Very nice write-onable waterproof material. Quite good size - any bigger would be unmanageable and smaller would be unnecessarily larger scale. It is quite readable. My only disappointments are: a) it is completely blank on the back which is useful for writing notes etc but i would have appreciated some info about the park and trails on the back or some insets etc of some places likely to be visited. Also, online I found descriptions of a dozen or so trails that I don't find marked on the map. Since the map is not crowded with words or lines they could have added these trails without sacrificing anything and i am sure they kNOW about them being expertes on the place. But I am happy to have the map so I give it a solid 4 stars.

All Tom Harrison maps are excellent. This one has enough details to find your way anywhere in the Valley, and everything is on one side so you can see the big picture and plan your routes without making mental connections after flipping the map over.

Tom Harrison maps are excellent. I have bought both Harrison and National Geographic maps. Harrison maps are always better -- far better. Better detail. Far more legible. Unfortunately, they are only for parks and areas in California.

Used this map to prepare and plan my trip to DV and also used it every single day while driving and hiking through the park. Really great and detailed map and the quality is top notch - did not need any other maps on my 8 day visit to this park (including a jeep drive through Titus Canyon Road).

This map is not very good. Simply a topo map with no explanations on off road routes or hiking trails. I bought this map in advance of our trip and ended up buying the National Geographic version at the Death Valley visitors center. I would not recommend this map.

This is *the* map for exploring Death Valley back country. current edition (2016). Just be sure to check the road conditions before you set out!

I have quite a lot of information on Death Valley. I wanted to get a different map to compare to what I already had. While I do like this map quite a bit it lacks one feature that recently helped me guide someone unfamiliar with the area. Mileage between points on backcountry roads. I also think the NatGeo Map is on a somewhat thicker paper. Both are coated to repel water.
