This book is light on instruction, but is it deceptively light? Most pages only have 4 pictures from start to finish (and really, it's only 3, as the final picture is just for adding color). So is it possible to go from a blank page to a detailed animal in just 3 steps? It doesn't seem like it should be possible, but this book actually kinda works. While it's light on illustrated examples, it's even lighter on written instructions. A few lines here and there could be of great use to a beginning artist. Even just 1 or 2 tips per illustration wouldn't clutter the minimalist layout, though it would make this guide significantly more useful. But, I can't argue with results, I guess. The simplicity seems to work -- some of the animals I have drawn are not altogether horrendous, so I guess the authors are onto something.

From the very beginning you'll be drawing some amazing animals. I was impressed with how easy this makes drawing animals. The examples start at the very basic of shapes and lead you through to the final rendering. It doesn't give you an exact step-by-step but if you have any experience drawing at all, you'll have no problem using this educational tool. Polly managed to take an intimidating topic and make it simple. Highly recommend this to anyone who is wanting to get better at drawing animals.

I've been drawing and painting for many years; but I do enjoy collecting drawing books. Occasionally I encourage people to draw who are fixated on believing that they cannot draw. I can prove them wrong.This book approaches drawing in a very basic manner, step by step. I won't say you will create a perfect drawing the very first time; but you will be amazed how close you can come. If you can draw circles, ovals, squares, rectangles and triangles, you will be able to use this book. One thing, this book is entirely pictorial. You will need another type of drawing book to find out more about supplies and techniques. If you are a practiced artist, you already have that information and if you are a beginner, just grab a pencil, paper and eraser. make your drawing and color it in. I think you will have a good time and for the price, how can you lose.

I love the simplicity it has and the fact that it is mainly just images which allow easier concentration when it comes to being able to focus on what they are trying to teach as opposed to trying to figure out what words meant. Especially since this was a gift for a friend who doesn't speak enough english to comprehend large chunks of information thrown at her.

I bought this for my grandchildren (ages 9 and 12) who were visiting this summer. How wonderful to find something they liked to do that was not electronic! I am not an artist, but I think that the way this book approaches drawing - gradually expanding the detail on a few underlying shapes - actually helps kids see differently. Sophisticated art that distills reality into basic shapes may even make more sense, if they learn to draw starting with those shapes. A great rainy day book!

Very awesome learn to draw book, my 7 year old loves it! The way the steps are laid out it's easy enough for her to follow and it can be as simple or get as detailed as they want to take it. It's even a great book for adults to learn to draw.

Definitely worth it. This is a good education book as well as a great basic book for starting drawing different animals but with similar forms.

This is a well written text, addressing a very important topic. It invites the reader to see the issue of human migrations from the perspective of social history.

This book was written before the world learned that the U.S. government had forcibly and often with no warning, taken thousands of children from their parents. This was done with no plans to reunite them and justified as a "deterrent" to other migrants fleeing violence in Central America.What a tragedy. The world has more refugees now--60 million, nearly half of them children--than at any time in history. And yet our current government is focused on creating false reasons to fear them, rather than giving humane reasons to help them.The current administration may have learned nothing from history, but Jacqueline Bhabha has. This is a factual book about migration, but also a philosophical book about morality and ethics. She first analyzes the situation world-wide (the "problem"), then asks the questions that humane societies should ask themselves about what is realistic to do? What is our individual and collective responsibility? She explains the laws that apply to international refugee migration as well as so-called "economic migration", for hardship. She reminds us that "the primary drivers of distress migration are conflict, natural disasters and climate change, global inequality and demographic changes" adding, "no solution to the current refugee and immigration crisis can be found solely by addressing its most evident symptoms." (p113).Hers is a global perspective with global solutions suggested. She looks at the world-wide refugee migration trends and what nations can do, including through the United Nations. It is a broad view, not just focused on the United States, but very important for the United States, caught in a moral crisis. She pays attention to the effect of this situation on a young generation of millions of refugees--what will they grow into, left as they are in the refuse camps of the world, deprived of education and the basic essentials of existence that most of the world enjoys?Bhabha doesn't just describe the problems--which she does very well--she takes on the solutions, an array of very specific ones. This is a small book--only 132 pages--but its an important one. It's a call to conscience that includes real-world recommendations for ways to help. Definitely recommended (This is well written and an easy read--I can think of several college courses where this would be excellent required reading, stimulating discussion and thought.)

History is filled with migration crises.One of the most important things you will learn is that in the majority of cases immigration is not undertaken as an act of aspiration but one of desperation - for survival.She also explores the notion of sovereign borders and the growing tendency to keep out those who do not fit into the notion of our culture. Ms. Bhabha delves deep into the ethical questions about our duty to help those whose quality of life is hopeless and often their survival is threatened.As everyone who has looked at the immigration problem has acknowledged, the system is not working. With the growing trend of nationalism and the increasing problems brought on by political conflict, climate change, natural disasters and economic disparity, the migration problems are becoming more acute.Ms. Bhabha does offer some concrete suggestions for solving the problems – not by treating the symptoms but by addressing the root causes of the problems. The question is do we have the moral and political resolve to do what is necessary.Rather than spend time and money on building a wall, we would all be better equipped to discuss the problem if we had a better understanding of the issues involved. This book offers a good first step to that understanding.Ms. Bhabha does an excellent job of articulating the problem and offering some suggestions. She is an expert on the subject. Her writing style/language is for an audience slightly higher than the general public.This book is published by Polity Press. Their approach is to adequately cover a complex subject in approximately 120 pages and to provide substantial further reading/research resources for those who wish to go deeper.Both the author and publisher accomplished their goal with this book

Bhabha's book is a short and thought-provoking read about the history of migration issues, the duty to address them and some possible solutions. The average nationalist is not going to pick this book up, but for those who are sincerely interested in the issue of migration, this provides helpful historical context and some philosophical mandates and some possible solutions. This is a topic of great interest to me and I found this slim volume added to the breadth of my knowledge. There's a lot of good stuff here, but if I had to pick one "sound bite" it would be this quote from page 3: "...only where migrating populations have brought with them superior technical abilities or unknown germs have their arrivals posed fatal threats or long-term security challenges to the settled population."

I am, in general, a big fan of these excellent short Polity books that provide a different focus and thus a good introduction to political and social issues that are arising with urgency and force....now. My students study migration principally through the lens of the implications of changing climate. This short book will both complement and deepen their perspective. As is often the case with these short Polity books, I wish that there had been just a little better editing.

Fantastic book! I've been using lasers and red light therapeutically for 20 years with excellent results. This is the best book I've found on the benefits of red light. Easy to understand. It's complete and compelling, and just might save your life--at least it can improve your life in many ways. I also am using the device the author sells--it is very inexpensive, and outstanding. I use it several times every day--I am VERY impressed with it. Thanks Mark!

I've been looking for something like this for a while. Most of the online information on this subject seems written for researchers and is overly technical for the lay person. This book is a good introduction that explains the subject, including some basic science, but much easier to read than a research paper.

I enjoyed the book, but had hoped for more information on treatment protocols. Mark, your website has a fatal flaw. All that comes up is an error message that information is being stolen. You probably want to check it out

I really did enjoy the information provided in this book and it was well worth the price. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it seemed like at least 1/3 of the book were reference pages. I do appreciate good references, but also feel that more information could have been provided with those 100+ references as well. I would have paid a smidge more for even more content. Especially since the author uses the book to entice folks onto his mailing list with a free dosage chart.

It's basically a semi-long article with 45% of it's length consisting of references.I'm not saying it's bad, but Ari Whitten's book "The Ultimate Guide To Red Light Therapy" is much more comprehensive than this one.

Short and sweet, gave me the info I needed and will investigate more

I own a light therapy device and have been using it regularly but with little effect. This book gave me information about how to properly use the device to obtain the results I was hoping to achieve. Obviously I am not writing to attest to the outcomes of using the device, but I have not been using it in the most effective way. This was an easy to understand how-to overview of light devices, the possible treatments and the most efficient way to use the devices to receive the most effective results.

A thorough introduction to red light technology. The author seems to have research the topic well. It is a quick read with just enough technical jargon to make it informative. I’ve ordered various red light lamp and will continue to research what’s seems to be a truly remarkable method of improving one’s health.

I overall enjoyed this short set of essays about the complexities of at times offensive public monuments, particularly those involving Confederate war heroes and the like. A bit thin and/or tedious to read at times (admittedly it is a somewhat narrow area, so more likely to be geared to specialists) but novel and important subject matter. The author is known for his liberal scholarship but also grew up and worked in the South, so the subject has a certain personal concern to him. I was not totally convinced with some of his reasoning at the end but it's a worthwhile read.

INTERESTING.

Thhis is a very balanced, broad based review of the subject, although Levinson writes in the heavy scholarly style that is appropriate to his distinguished status as renowned legal scholar.

An intriguing and interesting viewpoint into the real controversies that still are present within our nation today. The author finds a neutral way to present the information in a factual manner that challenges you, the reader, to be the one to decide how monuments and spaces of controversy can be best dealt with.

Ed Brody does an amazing job creating a world that is very interesting to read about, and keeps you wanting to learn more. I always get sad when I get to the end of the book!The amazing part of this is all the "history" in the world that builds on itself and allows for a great story building element, but at the same time you know that the world isn't even that old and just adds to the wonder of the mind of the creator. I've been a huge fan of this series since the very first book, and each book gets better and better each time; its really great to see Ed continue creating work this amazing at the pace he does so at.I am looking forward to the next book (hopefully many books!) in the series and hope there are more secret badass characters like Eanos who will appear! :-DGreat job on another great book, and am excited to see what comes in the future!

I felt that the 5th book in the series was better than the 4th one. I'm still not a fan of the main character but I love this world. A new character was interesting. He was a pro-gamer back on Earth and you saw that a bit in his tactics. He just acted differently than the other characters had. I understand that the MC will make mistakes but he constantly fluctuates between treating it as a game and treating it as a real world with consequences. So it gets frustrating. Majority of the Reborn act like gamers, so it would be refreshing to see a Reborn who does not have that type of mentality. As much as I want the next Eden's Gate book, I think that the author should make an anthology that explores the other characters so we can get a different perspective as the MC dominates things. Like after they form a Guild, there isn't a lot of opposition to the MC with his guildmates just stating, "I trust you." It would be nice if they had more of a voice. Despite that I devoured this book and cannot wait for more.

i’m enjoyed the start but after chapter 10 it was just to frustrating and annoying to read because no one deserves what Gunner was put through and it was never really explained but all the hints where there even when he was given the chance to help himself he still was manipulated .... till the very end of the book ... i keep waiting for the realization by all the explained methods but it never happened ... and to me that just sucks all the fun out of the book because its a rite everyone is born with and should never be taken away.

I like the Edens Gate series. It’s a good clean read. It has all the elements of a good RPG fantasy based story. The author keeps you invested in the world, the main character, and the supporting cast. I’m looking forward to how this love square works out. I hope the author is constrained by the classic monogamists lifestyle; especially with polyamory becoming/making strides as being an acceptable societal lifestyle.It’s definitely one of my favorite LITRPG genre reads, behind the Land Series and Ascend Online series.

Another excellent addition to the Eden's Gate series. The main character Gunner is trying to increase his skills and power so he can protect his friends and guild mates. From the end of book 4 Gunner was in a not so good place with the discovery of the Reborn. Another fast action and intriguing story in the world of Eden's Gate.

Absolutely fantastic book! It always kept me going for the next page to find out how his new adventure becomes a more intense and complex then it was sent out to be. Never was lost or disappointd, a very well written book and I'm wait very patently for the next one. Thanks for the new adventure, till next time.

Top shelf! Absolutely amazing! The moment I hear that a new book is coming out for this series, I drop whatever I'm currently reading in order to reread the entire series again. And I will continue to do so as long as the series continues, hopefully another 20/30 books :)

Started when the fourth book was out and loved them all. He keeps making decisions that sometimes end up bad and he makes a few mistakes but I think it just makes it all the more realistic. I do hate that cliffhanger at the end of the last book, but the wait was definitely worth it. Can't wait for the next one.

This autobiography of Ravi Zacharias is a very compelling story from start to finish. My opinion of him has always been that he is a super intellect. I have always been in awe of his mind. He is an author who I had to really think hard and concentrate to understand. And yet I find in this book that as a young student, he was a failure. He was repeatedly told by his father that he wasa failure an would never amount to anything. As a teenager he tried to commit suicide. The result was indeed his death, but it was a spiritual death to self as the Lord used this experience to give him a new life in Christ.From his first moment of conversion, he was totally committed. He was even able to find Christian churches in India. He also went to Campus Crusade for Christ meetings. They were alive and active in India!As Ravi unfolds his story, he is careful to reveal how God is always with him in the shadows directing his path.

On page 204, Ravi mentions the difference in communication between two cultures and that is obvious in the writing of this book and his other books too. So, as a Western reader, you may not be accustomed to his form of communication but please don't put it down, keep reading and you will definitely feel the joy eventually. As an African, I am happy that some people still remain original in their verbiage especially in this age where every book is written for the Western audience because "they are the ones who buy books". This is not a slight against any particular culture, I just don't want the diversity to be lost in the search of what's lucrative.Now for the book, first it is just a great story, of course, you need a great story to have a good memoir. It is essentially the story of a man who experienced Matthew 6:33 (But [s]seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.). And it also deals with the often controversial topic of destiny - as one of Ravi's other books "The Grand Weaver" does. God in the shadows - will God just guide us through it all regardless of our own actions to appear at His eventual purpose? What carries us through breaking points in our lives? What is the importance of praying family members? How do our actions, contributions, donations, and prayers affect people thousands of miles away from us? How do we discover our purpose in life? If you have ever thought about these questions, you will find answers in this book. Of course, you have to deduce the answers because this is the story of another man's life but if you want more direct answers, then buy "The Grand Weaver" and read both together.God bless Ravi, RZIM, and his family.

I chose this book because we had anticipated a trip to India and because I knew Ravi Zacharias was a believer, having had the privilege to hear him in a revival at the Mansfield CMA church in Ohio. At the beginning the book was herky-jerky as my father would say. But once Ravi met the Savior it became streamlined and a miraculous story evolved. But I realize that there is truth in this. Life before Christ is herky-jerky at best. But the Lord brings such cohesiveness that life is like the tapestry Ravi looks back and sees, woven by God .

I read this book very quickly. Ravi is an excellent writer and this book is hard to put down at times. A very fast and easy read. Flows very well. His life amazes me when I look at the background he came from. His Christian walk is certainly marked by obedience to our Lord. I love his fire for evangelism.Highly recommended!

Maybe it was because I was going through, at the time I read the book, a lot of struggles and I was seeking (and finding) answers.Ravi Zacharias, if my memory is not deluding me, is the first preacher that I listened to after I started attending church and accepted Christianity as true. I was surprised then to know that Christianity and faith in general could be defended rationally and found this man to be unique in speech and approach (and voice!). And from that time on, till now, I have been listening to his sermons and reading his books and articles.I took up this book on an impulse and I believe it was God ordained that I do so. I finished reading the book within a couple of days, devouring every paragraph. I suggest this book to all those who are followers of Christ and all who believe that they have been called for more than church attendance.At the time I was reading the book, I was a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Law. It had been only five months since I had come to the United States, for the first time, from Kerala, India. And I could draw a lot of parallels with Ravi's life in India and the concerns that he had faced the first time he was in a foreign land and surely with his struggles as a student, a son and a youngster.In this book, the reader will find a simple recitation of a man's life, his struggles, his faith and his work for God. Those who are familiar with Ravi's sermons and books will be astonished to find the book written in a simple manner, devoid of his usual verbal richness. This book is as raw as it can be; it's a man speaking explicitly to your heart.In Walking from East to West, Ravi Zacharias retells his life's story or rather, God's story in his life that will help you not only bridge but cross the cultural gap between the East and the West. In this book Ravi remembers every single person he has encountered and have made an impact over his life.Reading this book has made me grow closer to Jesus Christ.

I traded stocks, equity options, and forex before I saw SMB Capital on the second season DVD of Wall Street Warriors. About 16 months later, I bought the book One Good Trade on Amazon. One Good Trade made me believe that proprietary traders had an exciting and lucrative career. The book mentions the high failure rate of traders numerous times, but the book gave me the impression that failure was almost always the trader's fault. I decided to work at T3 Trading Group in Miami, and the experience was different than the environment described in One Good Trade. The combination of my experience and the financial statements reveals how T3 Trading Group really works.The T3 Trading Group Annual Report (Form X-17A-5) can be downloaded from Edgar on the SEC website. In 2012, 99.89 percent of T3 Trading's revenues came from the monthly fees and the trading fees its proprietary traders paid to the company ($15,106,432). Only 0.106 percent of T3 Trading's revenues came from its share of the trading profits ($16,082). T3 Trading charges its traders for every share they trade. Traders are discouraged from trading a low number of shares per trade even if their trades lose a lot of money and even if they are placing the same number of trades.T3 Trading charged each of my co-workers about $1,000 a month in trading fees. The $1,000 a month does not include the losses from the trades. On some days traders were profitable, but on most days they were not. Many traders are also charged several monthly fees. Total monthly fees can be as low as $120 a month. After one month at T3 Trading, one unprofitable trader was allowed to double the number of shares he traded ($2,000 a month in trading fees). Some traders may have trading profits that will offset some of the trading fees (and monthly fees). My manager told us on several occasions that many traders deposit additional money when the fees and the trading losses deplete their initial $7,500 capital contribution.Turnover at T3 Trading is high. The Linked In website profile of CEO Sean Hendelman reveals that T3 Trading has more than 400 proprietary trading jobs. My manager told us that it takes 6 months for traders to become profitable at T3 Trading. If the average trader quits T3 Trading in 6 months, then 800 people held those 400 trading jobs in 2012. In 2012, each of those 800 traders paid T3 Trading $18,883 in monthly fees and trading fees. Some traders may have trading profits that will offset some of the trading fees (and monthly fees).What are the odds of being a successful trader at T3 Trading Group? In 2012, all of the traders at T3 Trading had $53,607 in trading profits. The traders' share was $37,525 (70%), and T3 Trading's share was $16,082 (30%). It is possible that 799 out of 800 traders received nothing, and one trader received $37,525. It is possible that 798 out of 800 traders received nothing, and two traders received $18,762.50 each (the equivalent of a $9.38 per hour full-time job). It is possible that the top one percent of the 800 traders received $4,690.62 each, and the remaining 792 traders received nothing. No wonder most traders resign in a short period of time.The T3 Trading website reveals why revenues from the paid training products are not on the T3 Trading Group Annual Report: "T3 Live and T3 Trading Group, LLC are separate, but affiliated companies through common ownership." The T3 Live website advertises two courses that cost $1,997 each. The Virtual Trading Floor costs $200 a month. T3 Live has many paid products. I never purchased any T3 Live training products. My manager's free training classes were vague. My manager's free training materials were skimpy. About two months after I resigned from T3 Trading, T3 Live sent me an email that offered me a yearly subscription to the Virtual Trading Floor for $999.50. I was also offered a package of one course (I had three choices) and one year of private mentoring for $1,199.There may be proprietary trading firms that offer its traders an exciting and lucrative career. My description of T3 Trading is meant to help people avoid a situation where the fees the traders pay to the company are more important than the profit the traders make. I worked at T3 Trading for only two months, and each of my co-workers traded five times as many shares as I did. One day, I plan on reading One Good Trade again, and I plan on watching SMB Capital on Wall Street Warriors again. Reading the book and watching the DVD will be more interesting to me now that I have experience as a proprietary trader.

If you are looking for a STORY about a prop firm this is a good book but if you are trying to learn anything about day trading then this book will do nothing for you. Seems like one long advertisement on his prop firm and to me most people that are good at trading aren't selling items to make a living!

While there are only relatively marginal teachings about how to practically trade, there are many advices on how to succeed in this tough world. This is because if you want to know exactly what they do you have to purchase their expensive training programs. I think they are worthy every penny anyway.Reading this book I learned that tape reading is a key skill to make money, even though no one talks about it. It is really a forgotten skill and it is very hard to find who can teach you. There is also an entire chapter devoted to maximizing your profits that is very helpful.There are many concepts you will find only in the best books on trading. Mike explains very well why and how traders succeed and how traders fail, with many many anecdotes about him and his traders.Frankly, I did not expect Mike and Steve, the founder at SMB to be so patient. They really care about the traders they train and would do whatever it takes to make you succeed. Also I did not know how much money prop firms invest on the traders before they become profitable. They think a trader is a very valuable resource and are willing to invest a lot of time and money on the worthy candidates.SMB is really a top notch firm and I know many people would kill to be there, including me.The book is well written and very funny to read. I laughed hard many times. There are some typos that need to be corrected.

I love this book, very interesting insight into the world of proprietary trading. If you are interested in trading, please give this book a read. It talks a lot about the psychology of trading and what it takes to make it in this business. This book definitely contributed to me wanting and seeking out trading as a profession, and Mike is a very entertaining guy throughout the book. If you have any interest in how prop shops operate, or are interested in the stock market in general, I would recommend this book. I have read it multiple times and it gets more and more entertaining each read!

There are some real nuggets in this book that will make you a better trader. Bella has an entertaining writing style. The book is a great mix of practical, tactical Trading Tips while being entertaining along the way. I love this book!
